On Monday, May 25, 2020, a delegation of the government of the Republic of Croatia led by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković, Minister of European Funds Marko Pavić and the president of Croatian Motorways Administration Board, Josip Škorić, visited the Pelješac Bridge construction site.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković expressed satisfaction with the construction progress and stated that the Pelješac Bridge is taking shape and, once finished by
the end of the next year, will forever solve the problem of territorial accessibility in Croatia. Minister Oleg Butković emphasized that the project is coming to an end with the installation of the bridge span structure, on which 600 people are working, and that was something “many generations before us dreamed of and we are privileged to build it.”
Representatives of the Chinese company CRBC led by Lu Shengwei, head of the office in Croatia, did not hide their satisfaction with the state leadership’s visit to the construction site on Pelješac, and said they are making additional efforts to meet the agreed deadline for finishing the construction, which was aggravated during the last few months by the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
